The municipal authorities have issued warnings of landslide hazard and risk in this site to residents and travellers to avoid unexpected incidents. However, many of them have been found still riding their motorbikes along the dangerous paths to admire the beauty of the peninsula in the rainy season.

In particular, at around 9.00am on 2 November, a young driver lost control of his car and crashed over a cliff, about 300m from the Linh Ung Pagoda. At that time, it was raining heavily. The strong collision made the 4-seater car fall into a drainage ditch on the side of the road. Fortunately, the driver narrowly escaped from being killed in the accident.

In recent days, the Linh Ung Pagoda and the Bai Cat Vang (Yellow Sand Bech) tourist site have been crowded with visitors. Regardless of the presence of the warning signs, a large number of visitors have been found travelling to these sites.

Ms My Hanh from Ha Nam Province is a typical example. After finishing a training course in Da Nang at the end of October, she travelled to the Son Tra Peninsula in bad weather conditions, including heavy rain and strong winds.

Ms Hanh explained that although she had received warnings of the dangers of slippery roads and the risks of landslides and rockfalls, she ventured to travel to the peninsula to explore the beauty of this place during her stay in the city.

To ensure the safety of both residents and tourists, warning signs have already been placed at the landside points alongside the road leading to the peninsula.

In the current context of erratic weather change and possible torrential rains in Da Nang in the coming days, locals and visitors are warned to be extra careful going to the peninsula for safety reasons.
