In mid-November, the corridors of the 5th and 7th floors of the hospital’s Building Block B were filled with joys and laughter of patients and their caregivers who were waiting to get free haircuts.

Leader of the group of young barbers is Pham Van Lanh, 30, from Quang Nam Province’s Dien Ban Town.

Mr Lanh said, 2 years ago, his friend, Tran Phuoc Binh, pioneered in asking for permission from the hospital’s leaders to offer free haircuts to patients here.

Under the active support of the hospital's leaders, Mr Binh invited Mr Lanh to participate in this meaningful charity activity on the 1st and 15th days of every month.

Several months later, Mr Binh moved to the South to live and work. Mr Lanh called for more his friends to continue doing this act of charity for poor patients.

29-year-old Ngo Quang Thao, a group member, from the province’s Hoi An City said they were ready to go to the hospital rooms to give haircuts to patients who could not move to the lobby due to their health problems.

“Despite free haircuts, we always ask patients what hairstyles patients like and cut their hair very careful and meticulously” Mr Thao noted.

After receiving free haircuts, the hospital’s patients will be provided with free shampoos and face washing by employees of the hospital’s Social Work Office.

When it was getting dark, Mr Lanh and his friends got in the car to leave the hospital for Quang Nam Province. Although their faces and shirts were sweaty after a half day of hard working, they all felt very happy about what they did.
