5,471 billion VND planned for tackling flooding in the city
The Da Nang People's Committee has issued a plan for the management and development of the drainage system for the 2019-2025 period to tackle flooding problems in some parts of the city. The objectives are to basically deal with the issue of inundation in some urban areas and industrial parks (IPs), and resolve water drainage-related environmental problems at riverside and coastal areas and attractions across the city.
A total of 5,471 billion VND will be used to deal with flooding. Of this figure, 3,625 billion VND will be funded by the city budget, 1,739 billion VND will be loaned by financial institutions, and the remainder will come from source of domestic and foreign capital.
In detail, focus will be on installing new rainwater drainage pipelines at a park to the north of the 2 September Peace Monument, from Le Tan Trung to Tho Quang - Bien Dong routes, at the Hoa Khanh IP, and from the Khanh Son Landfill to Hoa My Canal.
Also, anti-flood pumping stations will be constructed at the end of Ong Ich Khiem, and at residential quarters in Hoa Tho Dong Ward, Cam Le District.
Meanwhile, wastewater collection and treatment facilities will be built in My An and My Khe areas, whilst water environment improvement project to the east of the city will be deployed.
Besides, work will start on the upgrade of drainage infrastructure at locations, including residential areas located around the city’s international airport, some residential areas in Thanh Khe Tay Ward, and the Bau Sen area in Hoa Tho Dong Ward, Cam Le District.
