According to the latest figures released by the Da Nang Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, 7,720 people in Da Nang have contracted the mosquito-borne disease since the start of 2019, 1.86-fold rise against the same period last year.

In an attempt to reduce dengue fever cases, the municipal authorities have urged relevant agencies to take effective measures to control the spread of dengue fever in the city and reduce the risk of dengue infection.

The municipal Department of Health has asked district-level preventive medicine centres to spray anti-mosquito chemicals at newly-detected hotspots.

The district-level authorities have also encouraged their residents to clear up any grassy or bushy areas near their homes, and to remove sources of standing water which can become mosquito breeding grounds.
