Free cake-making class for disadvantaged children
Last Saturday, the IRIS Restaurant at 130 Pham Van Street in Man Thai Ward, Son Tra District, Da Nang, was filled with laughter as nearly 20 children became actively involved in making cakes and drinks.

The free class was organised by the restaurant’s staff for the disadvantaged children across the district. This is the first time the local underprivileged children have made cakes and prepared for drinks in a luxurious and cozy space.

Le Tran Bao Tran, a 6th grader from the Nguyen Chi Thanh Junior High School, said that her father died when she was only 5. She added her mother had to shoulder the burden of caring for her and her younger brother. Therefore, it was absolutely impossible for Tran to have the opportunity to experience such useful and exciting activity.
6-year-old Minh Phong from the Quang Trung Primary School said he dreams of becoming a famous chef in the future in order to make good and eye-catching cakes.

Since its operation in 2018, the IRIS Restaurant has become a favourite destination for visitors from both home and abroad thanks to its luxury space and professional services.
The restaurant serves tasty Asian and European dishes, especially authentic Taiwanese cuisine, and various types of beverage and sweet cakes.
In addition to business activities, IRIS has got actively involved in doing numerous social work activities.

The owner of the restaurant, Ms Wen Yi Chun, said she has lived and worked in Da Nang for many years. She has a factory in the Lien Chieu District-based Hoa Khanh Industrial Park. Last year, she decided to open the IRIS Restaurant because she has a special love for cuisine.
The Taiwanese national remarked her restaurant has organised many meaningful programmes towards community apart from business activities.
In particular, in March, IRIS organised a free buffet for local residents and visitors. Cash donations by visitors to the event went to give gifts to poor people in Thua Thien Hue Province.
Ms Wen noted the intention of the free cake-making class was to bring exciting and unforgettable experience, and fun and cozy moments, to participating disadvantaged children, in the Christmas season.
