On Friday, the Cam Le District-based Medical Station in Da Nang was named as Centre of Excellence for Breastfeeding.

The award was given by the Vietnamese Ministry of Health, and Alive & Thrive (A&T) organisation in Ireland which is a global nutrition initiative to save lives, prevent illness, and ensure healthy growth of mothers and children.

This is the first district-level medical facility in the city to receive this award thanks to their efforts in creating and maintaining breastfeeding-friendly environments for newborns and mothers.

In the 3rd quarter of 2019, 94% of mothers exclusively breastfeed their babies during their hospital stay in the Cam Le District-based Medical Station. In addition, the number of newborn suffering from suffocation reduced by 95%.

In October 2019, the Da Nang Da Nang Maternity and Paediatrics Hospital was honoured with this title.
