According to Mr Ho Huong, General Director of the Da Nang Water Supply Company (DAWACO), many effective measures have been taken in order to prevent the Cau Do River from saline intrusion during the forthcoming Tet holiday.
In particular, a temporary water dam has been built at the mouth of the Quang Hue River in Quang Nam Province’s Dai Loc District. The intention is to ensure that the majority of the water source from the Vu Gia River will be released into the Yen River where the An Trach Dam is located.
Also, a temporary anti-saline intrusion dam near the Nguyen Tri Phuong Bridge which spans the Cam Le River will be constructed immediately after getting approval from the Da Nang government.
Mr Huong added during Tet, water supply plants citywide will provide with a maximum capacity of 348,000m3 of water in total per day, 1.1 times higher than the peak capacity last summer (318,000m3 of water).
“Therefore, DAWACO will provide enough tap water supplies for daily lives of local citizens during the upcoming Tet holiday if the salinity level of the Cau Do River does not surpass 550mg/l”, he noted.
Director of the Da Nang Power Company Le Hong Cuong pledged that power supply for production and domestic consumption during Tet would be ensured.
Mr Cuong underscored his unit has already completed the testing of electrical equipment on transmission lines and transformer sub-stations. Besides, the installation of valve type lightning arresters on 110kV power transmission lines has been made.
The focus has been on enhancing cross-section of conductors to improve the transmission capacity of medium-voltage power lines, and increasing checks of power grids.
Mr Nguyen Dinh Hung, General Director of the municipal Public Lighting Joint Stock Company, said that his company has paid special attention to repairing and maintaining public lighting systems across the city in a bid to ensure their stable operation.

Meanwhile, the city's Management Board of Transport Infrastructure Construction and Maintenance Projects are carrying out 16 transport infrastructure projects to ensure traffic safety of road users during Tet.
In details, importance is attached to rearranging traffic at the western end of the Rong (Dragon) Bridge, and at the intersections of Cach Mang Thang Tam and Le Thanh Nghi, Thang Long and Hoa Xuan Bridge, Vo Nguyen Giap and Ho Xuan Huong, and Minh Mang and Tran Nguyen Dan streets.
Traffic surveillance cameras and traffic light systems are being installed at the intersection of Nguyen Tat Thanh and Ly Thai Tong, and at the Hoa Cam overpass.
Faded painted lines on Nguyen Luong Bang, Ton Duc Thang, Truong Chinh and National Highway 14B streets are being repainted.
Some potential traffic hot-spots in the districts of Cam Le, Lien Chieu, Hai Chau, Thanh Khe, Son Tra, Ngu Hanh Son and Hoa Vang are being upgraded in a bid to reduce road traffic accidents.
According to the city-based Urban Environment JSC, as many as 1,000 trash bins have been placed across the city. In addition, the company’s employees are actively involved in cleaning up coastal areas, along the both banks of the Han River, and main roads, as well as quickly treating daily-collected domestic waste, in a bid to ensure environmental sanitation at trash collection points, and prevent bad smells from these areas.
