Key healthcare projects to be deployed in 2020

In an effort to provide the best services for patients in Da Nang and neighbouring localities, the municipal Department of Health is focusing on improving the quality of medical examinations and treatment, installing more advanced medical equipment at local public hospitals and medical centres, as well as enhancing the friendly and polite attitude and behaviour of medical staff towards patients.

In early 2019, the cardiovascular centre of the Da Nang General Hospital was put into operation at 138-140 Hai Phong Street. The 236 billion VND (11.23 million US$) healthcare project was approved by the municipal People’s Committee in 2015.

Besides, the 134 billion VND Rehabilitation Hospital at 8 Dinh Gia Trinh Street, Hoa Xuan Ward, Cam Le District opened its doors to the public last year.

Specially, many key healthcare projects will be deployed across the city during this year.

In particular, the municipal authorities have given green light to pour over 292 billion VND from the city budget into the implementation of the 2nd stage of the cardiovascular centre at the Da Nang General Hospital.

The 4,020m2 project will help to enhance the quality of medical examinations and treatment for patients from the city as well as the central region and Central Highlands.

More than 471 billion VND from the city budget will be spent on building the Centre for Neurological Surgery, Traumatology and Orthopaedics at 124 Hai Phong in Hai Chau District.

The 435-bed centre will provide examinations, treatment, surgeries and rehabilitation services for both adults and children with neurological and trauma disorders, and burn injuries from Da Nang and neighbouring localities.

Also, 495.6 billion from the city budget will go to construct the 2,629m2 Organ and Stem Cell Transplantation Centre at the Da Nang General Hospital.

Municipal Department of Health Director Ngo Thi Kim Yen said that her unit has set its targets of reducing the patient overload, and enhancing the quality of healthcare services at local hospitals by 2025.

In attempting to realise its goals, top priority will be given to building, upgrading and expanding hospitals across the city, with a focus on departments of cardiovascular, external trauma, obstetrics, paediatrics, cancer, traditional medicine, organ and stem cell transplants.

Director Yen emphasised, this year, heed would be paid to accelerating the construction progress of such medical projects as the 2nd stage of the Hai Chau District-based Medical Station, the Da Nang Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, the Face-Mouth-Jaw Hospital, and the 2nd stage of the Da Nang Traditional Medicine Hospital.

Besides, 14 ward-level medical stations in Cam Le, Thanh Khe and Son Tra districts will be upgraded during the year.
