Other 4 suspected coronavirus patients test negative

On Friday, Dr Ton That Thanh, the Director of the Da Nang Centre of Preventive Medicine, announced that tests on 4 other people in Da Nang who were suspected of having the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) have come back negative.

Dr Thanh added, to date, the throat swabs and blood serum samples of 39 suspected cases with high fever had been sent to the Nha Trang Pasteur Institute to test for the coronavirus. As a result, 32 of them have tested negative for the Wuhan coronavirus. The remaining 7 samples have been waiting for test results from the Nha Trang Pasteur Institute.

According to the municipal Department of Health, the Da Nang General Hospital is providing medical treatment to 21 suspected patients. They are 16 Vietnamese people, and 5 foreigners, mainly from China. Currently, the health conditions of the patients have stabilised, and only 6 of them have a low grade fever.

This afternoon, municipal People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho chaired an emergency meeting on prevention and control of pneumonia-causing nCoV.

The city leader urged relevant agencies to quickly report their measures to prevent and control the Wuhan coronavirus in Da Nang.
