The Stroke Centre at the Da Nang General Hospital has been awarded a certificate by the World Stroke Association for meeting the gold standards for medical treatment.
In order to receive this certificate, the Stroke Centre has met 7 criteria set by the World Stroke Association.
In particular, the time from patients arriving at the hospital to receiving treatment is less than 60 minutes, and the number of retreated patients for this disease accounts for between 5% and 15% of the total hospitalised ones.
Also, the percentage of stroke patients who receive CT or MRI scans is above 85%, and those who receive anti-platelet aggregation drugs after being discharged from the hospital is more than 80%.
The rate of patients with atrial fibrillation who receive anticoagulation treatment after being discharge from the hospital is over 80%, whilst the percentage of patients who are screened for swallowing dysfunction at the Stroke Centre is over 80%.
The final criterion is stroke patients be treated at the stroke unit or intensive care unit during their hospitalisation.
As many as 4,000 stroke patients receive treatment at the Stroke Centre every year.
