According to the event’s organising board, the 52 calligraphers will be in attendance for the occasion, all of whom are members of various calligraphy clubs in the capital and in neighbouring provinces.
The calligraphers, who will all be dressed in ao dai, a Vietnamese traditional dress, will be made up of both men and women of varying ages and will produce their calligraphy in black and yellow ink on red paper.
They will sit on mats arranged in an oval shape to symbolise peace, similar to calligraphy markets held in the past.
An exhibition showcasing various calligraphic works will also take place at the Temple of Literature.
The event is held annually and is expected to bring a festive atmosphere to both local people and tourists. The festival will run until February 5, or the 12th day of the first lunar month.
