According to the report, about 12,000 Chinese nationals are travelling and working in Da Nang. To date, 41 suspected cases with fever have been recorded in the city.

The city's healthcare sector has put 15 out of 41 people with high fever in quarantine for coronavirus infection tests.

As a result, three of them have tested negative for new strain of coronavirus. The remaining 12 samples have been waiting for test results from the Nha Trang Pasteur Institute.

Under the increasingly complicated disease situation, municipal People's Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho chaired meetings on 24 and 26 January to identify appropriate infection prevention and control measures against novel coronavirus.

Accordingly, health declaration forms have been displayed at all border gates. Any visitor showing signs of the virus, such as coughing, shortness of breath or respiratory tract inflammation, will be isolated and subjected to health checks.

Suspected coronavirus cases will be firstly quarantined at the city-based Lung Hospital. Meanwhile, the Da Nang General Hospital and the city's Maternity and Paediatrics Hospital will be responsible for giving medical treatment to anyone who tests positive for new strain of coronavirus.

The municipal authorities has also asked the Prime Minister for permission to temporarily close roads, railways, airways and waterways linking Da Nang with epidemic areas in case of necessity.

In addition, the city government has asked the Ministry of Health to continue providing Wuhan coronavirus-related information, and giving standard recommendations to prevent the spread of coronavirus, to localities nationwide.

In addition, media agencies nationwide will widely publicise the epidemic situation amongst local residents and tourists exactly in order to prevent the spread of fake news and ensure social safety and order in all situations.
