Hospital leader dispels rumours of Chinese patient with suspected coronavirus still staying in the city after fleeing hospital
Dr Le Duc Nhan, Director of the Da Nang General Hospital, on Wednesday, dispelled rumours being spread on social networks about a Chinese patient with suspected coronavirus still staying in the city after fleeing hospital.
Dr Nhan said, on 21 January, the 32-year-old Chinese patient named Ms Zhang Shun Y came to the hospital to check up her health because she got a fever and experienced flu-like symptoms. The foreign patient told the doctors that she had arrived in Da Nang after travelling to Wuhan in China, the origin of the global outbreak.
After checking up the Chinese patient’s health, the hospital’s doctors decided to place her in an isolation wing because they suspected she had been infected by the corona virus.
However, the foreign suspected patient disappeared from the hospital whist waiting for the hospital’s staff to complete hospital admission procedures. Despite their great efforts, the hospital’s staff couldnot find her.
The police, the city's health department and relevant agencies were all informed.
After that, the Da Nang General Hospital teamed up with the police and the municipal department of Tourism to find out the necessary information about the foreign suspected patient.
The municipal Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has confirmed that the female Chinese patient with suspected coronavirus left Da Nang for Zhengzhou (China) on China Southern Airlines-operated flight Cz8368 at 4.38pm on 22 January.
According to Dr Pham Truc Lam, Deputy Director of the CDC, the staff at the Da Nang International Airport has carried out temperature checks on Ms Zhang Shun Y. and she had no fever at that time.
