The Da Nang Department of Tourism has announced that no confirmed cases of the coronavirus have been reported in Da Nang so far.

The announcement from the Department has allayed public fears about coronavirus infection from cruise passenger arrivals from China on 22 January.

A spokesperson for the Department of Tourism said on Wednesday that, arranged by the city branch of the Saigontourist travel agency, luxury cruise ship World Dream carrying thousands of Chinese passengers, docked at the Tien Sa Port on 22 January. At that time, China has yet to ban its citizens from travelling overseas.

During their one-day stay in the city, the Chinese passengers were taken on organised tours to popular such popular attractions as the Museum of Cham Sculpture, and the Marble Mountains Tourist Area, plus tours around the city.

At 7.00pm on the same day, the ship left the city for Guangzhou in China.

The luxury cruise ship World Dream was en route from Hong Kong to Viet Nam’s Nha Trang City between 19 and 24 January.

In details, the cruise ship departed from Hong Kong on 19 January, and then arrived in Nha Trang on 21 January and Da Nang on 22 January. On 24 January, it returned to China’s Guangzhou from Da Nang.

It was known that all Chinese passengers aboard the cruise ship had their body temperatures measured at the both Nha Trang and Tien Sa ports. At that time, no cases of fever or signs of health problems were recorded.

15 days have passed since cruise ship World Dream arrived in Da Nang. Currently, the city has no confirmed cases of the coronavirus.
