Shopping places take preventive actions amid coronavirus epidemic

Most recently, many traditional markets, supermarkets and other shopping centres across Da Nang have proactively taken numerous preventive actions amid the deadly coronavirus outbreak.

Head of the Management Board of the Con Market Nguyen Dac Hung said, on Monday afternoon, about 1,000 surgical masks and leaflets about the novel coronavirus (nCoV) infection were distributed to visitors to the market.

Meanwhile, dozens of liquid disinfectant bottles are being placed along the entryway to the BigC Mall. Also, the supermarket’s staff have encouraged their shoppers to wear face masks and wash their hands with disinfectant liquid when they do shopping here.

Besides,  25,000 face masks and 1,000 bottles of hand sanitisers are available for sale in the BigC Mall to meet the growing demand of customers amid the complicated development of 2019-nCoV.

Director of the city’s Co.op Mart Da Nang Phan Thong said, over recent days, supermarkets nationwide has sold out over 3 million face masks at unchanged prices.

“The supermarket is joining forces with medical material manufacturers to offer 200,000 face masks with an average price of between 38,000VND and 48,000 VND per box, along with 10,000 hand sanitisers at the prices of about 20,000 VND per 90ml bottle, per day” Mr Thong added.

Recently, the municipal Department of Industry and Trade has urged Management Boards of traditional markets in the city to widely publicise the situation of 2019-nCoV and how to prevent the disease infection on loudspeakers placed in traditional markets all over the city.

The focus has been on cleaning up the local traditional markets, and ensuring food safety and hygiene.

Special attention has been paid to encouraging small traders to wear face masks and showing the civilised attitude and behavior towards their customers.
