29 year-old woman becomes third coronavirus patient in the city

A 29-year-old female resident of Binh Thuan Ward, Hai Chau District has become the third case to be diagnosed with coronavirus in Da Nang so far. The new case linked to the two British visitor arrivals in the city who caught the virus after sharing plane with Viet Nam’s 17th infected patient from London to Ha Noi on 2 March.

The new case is a saleswoman of the Dien May Xanh electronics supermarket on Nguyen Van Linh Street in Hai Chau District.  

At around 6.00pm - 7.00pm on 4 March, she had close contact with the two British guests who became the first two cases of the virus in Da Nang on 8 March when the two foreigners visited her shop. After these foreign guests left her shop, she continued to work there until10.00pm and returned home in Binh Thuan Ward.

In the mornings of the dates from 5 to 7 March, the woman took her daughter to her birth parents' house in Cam Le District’s Hoa Thuan Dong Ward.

On 5 March, she worked at the Dien May Xanh supermarket from 7.00 am to 12.30 am. At 1.00pm on the same day, she attended a meeting with around 40 people at the Mobile World Centre at 325 Dien Bien Phu Street in Thanh Khe District’s Hoa Khe Ward. After that, she went to her birth parents’ house for 15-20 minutes, and then returned home where she and her husband along with his daughter are sharing the same house with her parents-in-law.

On 6 March, the woman started to show symptoms of dry cough, and stayed at her  house until 3.00pm. After that, she went to her workplace until at 10.00pm. She then returned home and did not go anywhere.

On 7 March, the woman performed her duties at the workplace from 7.00am - 3.00pm, and she then went to her birth mother's house for 15-20 minutes, and returned home.

At 6.30pm on 7 March, she did shopping at the Danavi Mart on Le Dinh Ly Street with her sister-in-law. Late at night on the same day, she developed symptoms of fatigue and low fever.

On 8 March, the woman had a higher fever, so she left off work. At 2.00pm on the same day, her family members took her to the Da Nang General Hospital for examinations. Doctors diagnosed her with acute bronchitis, and treated her as an outpatient.

In the morning of 9 March, the woman read information on the internet about the first two confirmed cases in the city, and she then checked images recorded by the security cameras at her workplace. At 4.00pm on the same day, she rode motorbike to the Hospital for Lung Disease for health check-ups . At 5.00pm on the same day, she went shopping at the Vinmart supermarket at 408 Hoang Dieu Street.

At 6.00pm also on 9 March, the woman received medical examinations at home from health workers from the Hai Chau District-level Medical Centre. At 9.00pm, she went into quarantine at the Hospital for Lung Diseases.

Currently, she is receiving treatment at the Da Nang General Hospital.

People who had close contact with the city’s 3rd patient are urged to go into quarantine for 14 days at isolation sites. Her husband and birth parents’ houses, and the places where the city's 3rd infected patient visited, have been sprayed with disinfectant chemicals.
