Initial negative test results for first two coronavirus patients in the city
According to announcements released on Friday morning by Dr Ngo Thi Kim Yen, Director of the Da Nang Department of Health, initial test results show that the city’s first two coronavirus patients (they have become the 22nd and 23rd infected patients in Viet Nam) have tested negative for the virus after a nearly week-long treatment at the Da Nang General Hospital.
The British infected patients no longer have symptoms of the virus, and their chest X-ray results were reported as normal from 8 to 12 March.
On 10 March, initial tests for the virus on the two foreign patients came back negative after receiving supportive care from doctors at the Da Nang General Hospital.
Two days later on 12 March, staff from the Da Nang Centre for Disease Control (CDC) took their throat swabs and blood serum samples to test for a second time, and the foreign patients are awaiting their second test results.
The third confirmed case in the city is a 29-year-old saleswoman of the Dien May Xanh Supermarket on Nguyen Van Linh Street, and she is receiving treatment at the Da Nang General Hospital. She is no longer showing symptoms, including cough and shortness of breath. Her chest X-ray results were reported as normal from 10 and 12 March.
She is awaiting her initial test result for the virus. Her throat swabs and blood serum samples were taken by the Da Nang CDC’ staff to test on 12 March.
Director Yen remarked that initial negative test results for the British infected patients after near a week of treatment at the hospital are a happy sign for the city’s health sector. She, however, highlighted the second test results for the two British patients for the city to confirm them to be fully recover from the infection.
