On Sunday, 23-year-old Ngo Thanh T. was reported to suffer from right abdominal pain whilst his vessel QNg 98536 TS from Quang Ngai Province was fishing on the southern part of Viet Nam’s Hoang Sa waters.

The boat’s owner Truong Thanh Long made a phone call to the Viet Nam Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (Viet Nam MRCC) in order to ask for help.

After receiving a report about distressed crew member, Viet Nam MRCC immediately helped the boat’s crew members to contact doctors from the city's Emergency Centre 115 to ask for first aid instructions.

At 8.30am on Sunday, the victim’s health condition got worse because he had severe abdominal pain and high fever, and vomited.

Doctors from the city's Emergency Centre 115 said to the boat’s crew members that the victim showed the signs and symptoms of acute appendicitis, and they needed to rush the victim to hospital to receive timely treatment.

Then, the Viet Nam MRCC asked the Da Nang MRCC to send out its rescue ship SAR 412, carrying doctors from the city’s Emergency Centre 115, to help the victim.

Several hours later, SAR 412 reached the fishing boat, and the patient was, then, transferred to the rescue ship for initial first aid. At 11.20am on Monday, the victim was safely brought back to the mainland for further treatment.
