The city asks for permission from Ministry of Health to announce confirmed coronavirus cases in the city
The Da Nang government has asked for permission from the Vietnamese Ministry of Health to allow the city to announce its confirmed coronavirus cases after positive test results are confirmed by the Da Nang Centre for Disease Control (CDC).
In a writing signed by municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Le Trung Chinh on Wednesday, he said that although the Da Nang CDC was officially allowed to conduct coronavirus testing by the Vietnamese Ministry of Health on 6 March, positive test results, which are reported by the Da Nang CDC, must be confirmed by the Nha Trang Pasteur Institute.
Between 6 and 9 March, the Da Nang CDC conducted coronavirus tests on 139 samples at its lab. Of this, 136 tested negative, whilst tests on the remainder came back positive for new strain of the virus.
The samples of the city’s confirmed cases reported by the Da Nang CDC were required to send to the Nha Trang Pasteur Institute to test again to confirm the positive result. In the end, test results from the Institute’s lab came back positive which were the same as the Da Nang CDC carried out.
Therefore, the Da Nang government asked the Ministry of Health to allow the city to announce its confirmed cases of coronavirus in a bid to help the city take actions to prevent the spread of the deadly virus.
