The Da Nang Party Committee (PaC) Office announced on Monday that municipal PaC Secretary Truong Quang Nghia tested for the virus has come back with negative results after sharing a plane with two British visitors infected with coronavirus.

The two British tourists had been travelling on the Vietnam Airlines flight VN163 from Ha Noi to Da Nang on 2 March. The plane took off at Noi Bai International Airport in Ha Noi at 9.00am and touched down at Da Nang International Airport at 10.20am on the same day.

The two foreigners tested positive to the disease on 8 March after arriving in Da Nang, and they became the first two cases of the virus in Da Nang. They were among passengers on board the same flight with a 26-year-old woman in Ha Noi returning from Europe, departing from London to Ha Noi on 2 March. She became the 17th infected patient in Viet Nam.

Dr Ton That Thanh, the Director of the Da Nang Centre for Disease Control (CDC) said that despite his negative test result, Mr Nghia remains quarantined in his home for 14 days, and he in a stable condition.
