8 fishermen rescued after their boat drifts off Da Nang coast
Eight fishermen have been rescued off the coast of Da Nang after their boat's engine failed and was adrift in strong winds.
The fishing boat, captained by Mr Le Thanh Nho from Da Nang, suffered an engine failure that left it adrift at a speed of 1.5 nautical miles per hour in rough seas and strong winds of levels 4-5 whilst it was operating about 25 nautical miles east of the Son Cha Islet last Sunday. Immediatly, fishermen onboard made a distress call to the Da Nang Coastal Information Station for assistance.
After receiving an SOS message from the boat's captain, the Da Nang Coastal Information Station asked fishing boats operating nearby to help the boat in distress.
On Monday morning, all crewmembers and their boat QB 92797 TS were towed back to the city’s Tho Quang fishing port safely. Currently, all fishermen are in stable health conditions.
