Unlike previous years, the Inter-provincial Coach Station and the Railway Station in Da Nang have appeared markedly less busy although the public holidays for the National Reunification Day (30 April) and International Labour Day (1 May) is coming up. The reason is thought that more people opt to stay at home in a desperate bid to avoid coming into contact with the deadly coronavirus.
Mr Pham Loi, Deputy General Director of the city-based Transportation and Bus Station Management JSC, said road transport services in the city have seen dramatically fall in passenger numbers after inter-provincial passenger coach services on fixed routes were allowed to resume on 23 April as Da Nang has begun easing social distancing measures.
Mrs Le Thi Tuyen from the city’s Railway Station said train station witnessed a decline of up to 80% in passenger numbers with the daily average of 250 passengers. Currently, only 4 pairs of trains between Da Nang and other localities nationwide are operating, a decrease of 3 due to a lack of passengers.
