Thunderstorms on way with torrential rain for the city until Monday

The Mid-Central Region Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting said a high-pressure system forming associated with strengthening easterly winds are bringing heavy downpours to Da Nang and and elsewhere in the mid-central region.

Saturday into Monday, scattered to heavy showers will arrive in the city. A total rainfall for Hoa Vang and Cam Le districts is expected to be widely 40 to 70mm and even over 80mm, whilst rainfall accumulation is likely to be up to 70mm in the districts of Son Tra, Ngu Hanh Son, Lien Chieu, Thanh Khe, and Hai Chau.

Forecasters has issued a severe weather warning for lightning, hailstones and strong winds in some vulnerable parts of Da Nang.

In the evening of Sunday, the coast of the mid-central regional localities, including Da Nang, are likely to experience northeastern winds levels 5-6, rough seas, and sea waves from 1.5 to 2.m high.
