The incident happened on Friday evening. The rescued fishermen told the authorities that they were conducting fishing in the waters off Thua Thien Hue Province when their fishing boat started to take on water due to heavy rain and thunderstorms. This tough challenge drove all of the boat's crew members into panic, and they immediately made a distress call to the Da Nang Coastal Information Station.

Soon after, the Viet Nam Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre immediately asked Da Nang MRCC to send out its rescue ship SAR 274 to help the boat in distress.

At around 0.20am on Saturday, the ship SAR 274  arrived at the scene. All crewmembers onboard the distressed boat were transferred to the rescue ship before their fishing boat was completely submerged due to strong winds and high waves at sea.

At 3.40am on the same day, the distressed fishermen, who had been in danger at sea, were safely brought back to the mainland.
