The incident happened at around 3pm on Thursday. The rescued fishermen told the authorities that they were conducting fishing in the waters off Da Nang when their fishing boat began taking on water after hitting a coral reef. The incident drove all of the boat's crew members into panic, and they immediately made a distress call to the Viet Nam Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (Viet Nam MRCC).

Soon after, the Viet Nam MRCC immediately asked Da Nang MRCC to send out its rescue ship SAR 412 to help the boat in distress.

At around 3.45pm on the same day, the ship SAR 4112 arrived at the scene. All crewmembers onboard the distressed boat were transferred to the rescue ship before their fishing boat was completely submerged.

The distressed fishermen, who had been in danger at sea, were safely brought back to the mainland on the same day.
