A month of action to improve road safety on some important routes across Da Nang is starting today (Friday, 15 May).

The National Highways 1A and 14B, the streets of Ngo Quyen, Ngu Hanh Son, 2 September, Cach Mang Thang Tam and Truong Son, the Da Nang-Quang Ngai Expressway, under the Hoa Cam overpass, and in front of the city’s Inter-provincial Coach Station will see traffic police officers carry out checks on motor vehicles in order to detect and handle traffic violations.

The police force will use these routes to conduct surprise checks on vehicle drivers to ensure that they have sufficient documents such as a vehicle registration certificate, a driver's licence, a certificate of technical safety and environmental protection inspection, insurance of civil liability and any other necessary paperwork such as a permit for transporting dangerous goods.

The campaign will run from 15 May until 14 June.

Surprise checks will be the key focus of the police force to keep a tap on cases of careless driving when under the influence of drink and drugs, passengers carried on vehicles in excess of capacity, transporting illegal products or violating such traffic rules as running through red lights, riding motorcycles without wearing helmets, and going in the wrong lanes.
