Between 20 April and 16 May, the organisers of the 'Compassion Rice' charity programme received over 2.5 billion VND in cash and rice in donations from generous individuals and organisations across Da Nang to support the operation of 4 so-called Rice ATMs in the city.

The automatic machines dispensed 251 tonnes of free rice to 122,500 people affected by coronavirus in the city during that period.

Also, such essential items as chicken eggs, soy sauce and fish sauce were given to those in need.

These figures were released by the organisers of the 'Compassion Rice' charity programme at a recent meeting to review the implementation of the programme.

Also at the event, 4 groups and 14 individuals were honoured by the organisers in recognition of their active involvement in the programme. In addition, 6 Youth Union organisations and 5 Youth Union members were praised by the Da Nang Youth Union for their active support for the programme.

Besides, the organisers of the programme expressed their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to donors and partners, including the Da Nang Newspaper, for their generosity and active support to their programme.
