On Sunday morning, the Viet Nam Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (Viet Nam MRCC) received an SOS message from Mr Le Thanh Phuong who was the captain of fishing boat QNa 92792 TS from Quang Nam Province.

Captain Phuong reported that his crew member, a  52-year-old fisherman, had suddenly developed symptoms of mouth distortion and convulsions.

After receiving the SOS message, Viet Nam MRCC immediately helped the boat’s crew members to contact doctors from the city’s Emergency Centre 115 to ask for first aid instructions.

According to the centre’s medical workers, the victim was believed to have had a stroke, and the victim was in a very critical condition and developed symptoms of hemiplegia. Therefore, they asked crew members to bring the sick fisherman to the mainland for treatment as soon as possible.

Immediately, rescue ship SAR 412, carrying doctors from the city’s Emergency Centre 115, was sent to scene to help the sick fisherman.

At 5.05pm on the same day, SAR 412 reached the fishing boat and the centre’s doctors immediately gave initial first aid to a victim. After that, the sick fisherman overcame the critical moments and he was, then, transferred to the rescue ship for bringing back to the mainland for further care.
