Five fishermen have been rescued by crew members of other fishing boats after their boat started sinking off the coast of Da Nang.

The crew on the fishing boat DNa 90315 TS, captained by Mr Ho Van Doi from Thanh Khe District, Da Nang, issued a distress signal at 5.30am last Saturday stating that their boat was rapidly taking on water due to strong sea waves. At that time, they were operating about 60 nautical miles east off the Da Nang coast.

Soon after, two fishing boats operating nearby came to save the distressed fishermen after being alerted by a distress signal from them.

All crewmembers onboard the distressed boat were transferred to the rescue ships and were safely brought back to the mainland. However, attempts to salvage the sinking boat by the rescue ships were unsuccessful and the fishing boat sank to the bottom of the sea.
