'Cup of Compassion Coffee' programme raises over 44 million VND after reopening
As part of celebrations for the 95th anniversary of Viet Nam’s Revolutionary Press Day (21 June), the 16th edition of ‘Ly Ca Phe Yeu Thuong’ (Cup of Compassion Coffee) monthly programme took place at the New Hawaii coffee shop, 15 Tran Quy Cap, Hai Chau District, Da Nang on Saturday morning. This signifies the return of the monthly charity programme hosted by the municipal Journalists’ Association in the city after five months of coronavirus closures.

This month's event was attended by Da Nang People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho and Vice Chairman Le Trung Chinh, and Head of the municipal Party Committee’s Department of Publicity and Training Tran Dinh Hong, plus many reporters and donors across the city.

In his remarks at the event, Chairman Tho highlighted the vital role the programme plays in creating an ideal rendezvous for local reporters, and appealing for donations to help people in need.
The city leader hoped that this meaningful programme will receive more support from reporters, government officials and employees, along with philanthropists across Da Nang in an effort to help more people in financial hardship in the city.
Also at the event, the programme’s organisers granted 11 scholarships, totalling 22 million VND, to poor school pupils and university students in Da Nang and Thua Thien Hue Province.
In total, over 44 million VND was raised during this month's event from generous donors, bringing the current fund of the programme to more than 1.2 billion VND. The donations will be used to help those in need, including reporters in difficult circumstances. To date, a total of over 918 million VND from the programme’s fund have gone to help 223 disadvantaged people all over the city.
