The male patient, 24, returned to Viet Nam on June 16 from Kuwait after transiting in Qatar. He was quarantined after entering Viet Nam at the Tan Son Nhat international airport in Ho Chi Minh City.

With his first test on the day being positive for the coronavirus, the man is now being treated in the HCM City hospital for tropical diseases.

The country has gone 62 consecutive days without a domestically transmitted infection with no deaths.

Statistics released by the Committee show that 325 of Viet Nam's 335 cases have been given the all-clear for the virus. This means 97 percent of the cases in the county have made a full recovery from the illness.

In total, 195 of the confirmed cases were overseas arrivals, and they were quarantined on arrival.

Currently, 7,250 people who are close contacts of coronavirus carriers and arrivals from pandemic-hit areas are under quarantine across the country.
