All the new cases are Vietnamese citizens returning from Kuwait on flight QH9092 on June 16, the Committee said. They were quarantined in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau after entering Viet Nam at the Tan Son Nhat Airport Ho Chi Minh City.

They tested positive for coronavirus onJune 17 and all of them are being treated at the Ba Ria Hospital.

Latest update from Viet Nam's National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control states that on 19 June morning, no-one in Viet Nam were positive for the potentially deadly virus. It means the total number of cases in the country still stands at 342, with no deaths.

Viet Nam has seen no new locally transmitted cases for 64 consecutive days.

In total, 202 of those confirmed cases were overseas arrivals, and they were quarantined on arrival.

Statistics released by the Committee show that Viet Nam has seen 325 people recover from the deadly illness, including 49 foreigners. This means the percentage of patients who have recovered from the coronavirus in the country currently reaches 95.

All patients who have recovered from Covid-19 continued to be quarantined for 14 days and undergo more testing before returning to the community after leaving hospital.

Four of the remaining 17 patients currently in hospitals nationwide have tested negative for the coronavirus at least twice.

Currently, 6,176 people who are close contacts of coronavirus carriers and arrivals from pandemic-hit areas are under quarantine across the country.
