Beaches around Da Nang, including Sao Bien in Ngu Hanh Son District, and Phuoc My, Pham Van Dong and My Khe in Son Tra District, are popular places for families in the city and visitor arrivals to gather with the sea an inviting place to cool down in hot weather.

A variety of very popular water sports activities such as jet-skiing, windsurfing, parasailing, banana boat riding, and speedboating are available there. Beach showers are provided at a number of key beaches within Da Nang, these shower facilities have been improved in an effort to better serve beach users.

However, some beaches like Man Thai in Son Tra District, and Son Thuy, Non Nuoc and Tan Tra in Ngu Hanh Son District, have seen very few beach-goers.

For instance, the Man Thai beach was open to the public in early 2012 at the cost of around 8 billion VND. However, the beach is facing serious pollution. Dozens of fishing vessels from Man Thai and Tho Quang wards anchor off the beach every day, and this is a major cause of pollution.

In addition, there are many shortcomings in the design of shower facilities on this beach, including shower faucets that are too high, broken door locks, damaged doors, and the freshwater storage tank is too deep.

The Tan Tra, Son Thuy and Non Nuoc beaches in Ngu Hanh Son District have yet to satisfy the demand of locals and visitors.

Mr Nguyen Duc Vu, the Head of the Management Board of the Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourism Beaches, said the focus is on dealing with the pollution on the Man Thai Beach, as well as upgrading shower facilities on Son Thuy, Tan Tra and Non Nuoc beaches in a bid to make them more appealing to locals and visitor arrivals to the city.

He aslo said that more shade trees will be planted along some of the major coastal streets such as Nguyen Tat Thanh, Vo Nguyen Giap, Truong Sa and Hoang Sa in late July.

Special attention will be paid to upgrading some beaches in Da Nang, including Sao Bien, My Khe, Pham Van Dong, Nam O and Xuan Thieu, in order to better serve beach-goers.
