Viet Nam reports no new locally transmitted infection cases for 54 days

No new cases of coronavirus were recorded in Viet Nam on Tuesday morning, Viet Nam's National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control said.

Viet Nam has gone 54 consecutive days without a domestically transmitted infection and has registered a total of 332 cases, with no deaths.

On Monday evening, Viet Nam's National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control announced one more imported Covid-19 case, bringing the country's overall tally to 332.

The new Covid-19 patient was a 18 year-old man entering Viet Nam from Cambodia. 

The man entered Viet Nam on May 25 through a border gate in the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap, and he was quarantined on entering Viet Nam.

In total, 192 of the confirmed cases were overseas arrivals, and they were quarantined on arrival.

Till date, 316 patients of the confirmed cases have recovered.

There are 16 Covid-19 patients currently in hospitals nationwide, of whom, three tested negative for the virus once, and test results came back negative for two others twice or more.

The 91-year-old British pilot, who is receiving treatment in the Ho Chi Minh City-based Cho Ray Hospital, is showing rapid recovery, Associate Professor Dr. Luong Ngoc Khue, Head of the Ministry of Public Health’s Medical Examination and Treatment Department said.

Currently, a total of 8,182 people who are close contacts of coronavirus carriers and arrivals from pandemic-hit areas are under quarantine across the country.
