The male patient, 37, a resident of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province’s Vung Tau city, is a crew member on a ship.

He was quarantined after entering Viet Nam at Vung Tau Port on May 30.

The first test taken on May 31 showed he was negative for the virus but he was positive in the second test on June 11 before he was preparing to leave the quarantine site.

He is receving treatment at Ba Ria Hospital.

Two more patients who tested positive for coronavirus were discharged from hospital on 12 June, taking the total of patients given the all-clear in Viet Nam to 323 till date, the Committee said. This means 96.7 percent of the cases in the county have made a full recovery from the illness.

Latest update from Viet Nam's National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control states that on 13 June morning, no-one in Viet Nam was positive for the potentially deadly virus. It means the total number of cases in the country still stands at 333, with no deaths.

The country has gone 58 consecutive days without a domestically transmitted infection.

In total, 193 of the confirmed cases were overseas arrivals, and they were quarantined on arrival.

There are 10 Covid-19 patients currently in hospitals nationwide, of whom, three tested negative for the virus once, and test results came back negative for another one at least twice.

Currently, 6,475 people who are close contacts of coronavirus carriers and arrivals from pandemic-hit areas are under quarantine across the country.
