Over the past two days, the image of a female medical worker in Da Nang having her long beautiful hair cut in a bid to facilitate her professional tasks in a Covid-19 treatment zone has gone viral on social networks, receiving a great deal of public compliments for the sacrifice she has made for her patients.

According to doctor Phung Dinh Thanh, the Deputy Director of Da Nang Lung Hospital, the female medical worker emerged on the image is nurse Nguyen Thu Thao from the Da Nang General Hospital.

Thao was sent to the Da Nang Lung Hospital to support the treatment of Covid-19 patients here. The woman voluntarily did the haircut so as to facilitate her professional tasks.

Thao said the haircut helps female medical workers like her reduce the chances of being infected, and make it easier to clean, maintain their personal hygiene and better wear sweat-soaked protective gear.

"Short hair was better for wearing disposable caps and biohazard suits, as well as easier to wash" said Thao.

Female health workers’ decision to cut off their long beautiful hair – the valuable ‘asset’ of a woman- to fight Covid-19 has immensely touched the hearts of many people.

They, in fact, should be ‘the most beautiful warriors’ in this tough fight against the novel coronavirus.

The Da Nang Lung Hospital is now one of Da Nang's medical establishments to receive, isolate and treat Covid-19 patients.

Since the start of this year, in parallel with the implementation of the Covid-19 prevention and control measures, the staff member of the hospital has still maintained the good performance of their professional tasks.

Since 27 July, this medical establishment has received 5 Covid-19 patients transferred from Da Nang General Hospital for treatment in a move to ease the patient overload for the later.
