Two more patients given all-clear for coronavirus in Viet Nam, hundreds of returnees complete quarantine

Two more Covid-19 patients in Viet Nam were discharged from hospital on Wednesday, taking the total of patients given the all-clear to 347 till date, Viet Nam's National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control said. This means 94 percent of the cases in the county have made a full recovery from the illness.

They are patient No 339, a 37-year-old man and patient No 342, a 41-year-old man who both returned from Kuwait on 18 June on a repatriation flight and were quarantined on arrival.

The pair were treated at Ba Ria-Vung Tau General Hospital in the south.

Also on Wednesday, 341 Vietnamese citizens returning from Japan completed a 14-day quarantine period at a police school in Thang Binh District, central Quang Nam Province and received all clear certificates.

Border soldiers of northern Quang Ninh Province on Wednesday morning took nine people who illegally entered Viet Nam into quarantine zone.

They illegally entered Viet Nam at the border with China in Mong Cai City.

Ten Vietnamese and Cambodian nationals who illegally entered Viet Nam through border gate in Mekong Delta province of An Giang were also taken to quarantine on Tuesday. 

Viet Nam has no active coronavirus cases on Thursday morning. It means the total number of cases in Viet Nam still stands at 369, with no deaths, the Committee said.

The country has gone 84 days without a domestically transmitted infection.

In total, 229 of the confirmed cases were overseas arrivals, and they were quarantined on arrival.

There are 22 Covid-19 patients currently in hospitals nationwide, of whom, two tested negative for the virus once and test results came back negative for five others at least twice.

Currently, over 13,300 people who are close contacts of coronavirus carriers and arrivals from pandemic-hit areas are under medical monitoring or quarantine across the country: 95 at hospitals, over 12,800 at designated quaratine facilities and 420 at home.
