On Saturday morning, Da Nang People's Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho published a directive on promoting the drastic implementation of Covid-19 prevention and control measures in a bid to respond to a new wave of coronavirus, with an emphasis on urging every citizen in Da Nang to be a ‘frontline soldier’ against Covid-19.

Da Nang authorities and its residents must give much greater priority to joining the efforts to contain and prevent the spread of coronavirus which are considered to be most important and urgent tasks.

Continuing to thoroughly grasp the spirit of “fighting against the pandemic like fighting against the enemy”, high vigilance against Covid-19 should be stepped up in a stricter manner than ever before so as to contain the disease spread in a large area, minimise new infections and deaths, and finally, eliminate this deadly virus.

Every citizen in Da Nang should act as a ‘frontline soldier’ in the ongoing battle against Covid-19 by strictly complying with Da Nang's infection prevention and control measures.

Locals are required to continuing staying at home as much as possible, and only go out under absolutely necessary circumstances, taking measures to protect themselves and their families, and actively and responsibly participating in pandemic prevention and control activities launched by functional local agencies.

Heed should be paid to put field hospitals for Covid-19 patients into use as soon as possible in order to ease the patient overload facing the existing blockaded hospitals.

Also, another task is to continuously check, monitor and ensure full implementation of instructions on coronavirus quarantine, with a heed to enhancing management of isolating and treating suspected cases as well as ensuring that no person with suspected infection leave their isolation facilities without permission.

Importance should be attached to closely monitoring and conducting extensive testing for all cases with clinical symptoms in order to promptly detect, isolate and thoroughly eliminate all sources of infection.

Da Nang’s police forces should be tasked themselves with timely detecting and handling foreign nationals who are found having illegally entered Viet Nam, as part of an ongoing mass inspection of foreigners in the city.

Meanwhile, the Da Nang Department of Industry and Trade must concentrate on stockpiling large amounts of daily necessities to ensure sufficient supplies of food and essentials for local residents in case the disease is spreading on a large scale.
