Fourteen more patients in Da Nang cured of coronavirus

Four more patients have been given all-clear from coronavirus following between three and six negative Covid-19 tests.

The recovered people, all from Da Nang, left the Lung Hospital on Monday morning after they had made a full recovery from the illness. They are no longer contagious as they no longer suffer from fever, cough and shortness of breath, the hospital’s doctors said.

Among the recovered people is a 55 year-old man, a resident of Binh Hien Ward, Hai Chau District, Da Nang.

The man, who has underlying health conditions such as heart disease, hypertension, and ischemia, was admitted to the Lung Hospital on 31 July after he was confirmed as having coronavirus. 

The patient’s health condition got worse after catching the virus as he suffered from serve lung damage. Therefore, the hospital used extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) for him to provide breathing and heart support. In addition, the man received continuous blood transfusion and dialysis in parallel. 

On 16 August, the critically ill coronavirus patient was given all-clear from coronavirus following five negative Covid-19 tests. However, he could not be discharged from the hospital because he continued receiving the treatment for his underlying diseases.

“Till date, the man has tested negative for Covid-19 six times on 8, 10, 13, 14, 16 and 23 August. Other signs include improved clinical symptoms, overall stable status and vital signs, normal organ function and improved chest X-ray readings” Doctor Le Thanh Phuc, Director of the Lung Hospital, said.

Likewise, the Hoa Vang Field Hospital discharged ten more patients being treated for coronavirus here on Monday afternoon following between three and five negative Covid-19 tests, Doctor Nguyen Dai Vinh, the Director of the Hoa Vang District Medical Centre confirmed.

The recovered people
The recovered people were discharged from the Hoa Vang Field Hospital on Monday afternoon. 

The recovered patients, aged 9 – 65, consisting of 9 from Da Nang and the other from Quang Nam Province’s Hoi An City, were given clean bills of health after they had made a full recovery from the life-threatening disease.

Till date, a total of 102 virus-stricken patients have been discharged from the Hoa Vang Field Hospital  after having been given the all-clear from coronavirus. Currently, 134 disease-catching patients are being treated here.

The close monitoring of the recovered people will be put in place during their 14-day self- quarantine period at their places of residence per the Health Ministry’s guidelines after they are back in their own home.
