In tandem with this task, importance should be attached to continuously encouraging and monitoring the strict public compliance with the national government-mandated infection prevention and control measures.

These statements were released by the PM at a regular online meeting on Friday morning on Covid-19 tackling.

Mr Huynh Duc Tho, the Da Nang People's Committee Chairman cum Head of the municipal Steering Committee for the Covid-19 Prevention and Control, along with Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Truong Son and representatives from local relevant agencies were among the participants in Da Nang.

In his remarks at the online meeting, PM Phuc warned that any localities and relevant agencies which are found failing to comply with Viet Nam's national infection prevention and control policies will be strictly punished.

According to the Ministry of Health, Covid-19 testing capacity has been increased considerably in Da Nang over recent days.  From August 15 onwards, when the social distancing ends in Da Nang as planned, Covid-19 infection numbers are highly expected to start the downward trend.

Till date, 35,000 residents in Da Nang have been taken their swab samples for Covid-19 testing, whilst 17,000 people who were in contacts with laboratory-confirmed Covid-19 cases have been put into quarantine in order to prevent further potential infections.

For the time being, Da Nang is on the right track in dealing with the coronavirus pandemic with its drastic motto of contact tracing - isolating- testing - stamping out the virus completely.
