Since Covid-19 outbreaks occurred in Da Nang, many of the city-based journalists’ agencies in Da Nang have continuously appealed for philanthropists nationwide to donate protective gears for journalists.
According to journalist Le Phi, Head of the Da Nang representative office of the Ho Chi Minh City-headquartered ‘Phap Luat’ (Legal Affairs) newspaper, till date, his unit has received about 17,500 face coverings, 600 protective suits and 500 bottles of antiseptic, all of which went to reporters in Da Nang and the neighbouring provinces of Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Nam and Quang Ngai.
In fact, personal safety is hugely important during a pandemic, especially for journalists who can’t self-isolate and need to continue to report from the frontlines. Therefore, such protective gears are very useful for these field reporters whilst on duty to prevent their potential exposure to the deadly virus.
