Seriously ill Covid-19 patient in Da Nang recovered from illness , more Covid-19 patients discharged from hospital
A seriously-ill hospital male patient with Covid-19 in Da Nang with complex comorbidities, who was at a high risk of death previously, has been recovered from his illness after he tested negative for the virus five times, the Da Nang Lung Hospital said on Sunday.

The 55-year-old man, a resident of Binh Hien Ward, Hai chau District, was rushed to the hospital on 31 July with serious chronic diseases of hypertension, heart failure and vessel ischemic.
After two days of treatment, he suffered from serve lung damage. On 2 August, the hospital used extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) for him to provide breathing and heart support. In addition, the man received continuous blood transfusion and dialysis in parallel. On 5 August, he became disconnected with ECMO following positive signs of recovery.

According to doctor Le Thanh Phuc, the hospital’s Director, the man tested negative for the virus five times, and he was then transferred to a separate treatment area for further medical monitoring to avoid catching the virus again.
For the time being, in spite of his all-clear from the virus, the patient is still being treated for his pre-existing conditions, and he is highly expected to be discharged in the next few days.
The successful treatment has been mainly attributed to the mutual professional cooperation among the dedicated medical experts from the city-based Lung and Da Nang General hospitals, and their talented colleagues from the Ho Chi Minh City-based Cho Ray Hospital.

In other possitive news, on Sunday, a total of 8 more patients being treated for the coronavirus in Da Nang were discharged from hospital after they had recovered from their illness and tested negative for the virus from three to five times, bringing total recoveries across the city till date to 44.
In detail, 7 Covid-19 patients were discharged from the Hoa Vang Field Hospital, whilst the remaining one was from the Lung Hospital.
Specialised vehicles were used to carry the recovered people home. The close monitoring of these patients will be put in place during their 14-day self- quarantine period at their places of residence following the Health Ministry’s guidelines after patients are back in their own home.
