The fair supplied those in need with such essential goods as rice, eggs, cooking oil, soy sauce, fish sauce, frozen food and dishwashing liquid.

In total, 300 people living in difficult circumstances across the ward visited this fair and each of them was allowed to choose and buy favourite products on display at this special fair for zero dong.

Chairman of the Phuoc Ninh Ward People's Committee Huynh Hai said that this charity event aimed to help those who have been financially affected by the pandemic across the locality.

Mr Hai remarked that the Phuoc Ninh Ward authorities and relevant agencies have raised more than 450 million VND in both cash and in-kind donations from philanthropies nationwide to help local families in financially difficult circumstances. Of this, 130 million VND was used to organise the charity food fair.

Also on the same day, the similar event operated at the headquarters of the Hoa Tho Dong Ward Police Department in Cam Le District.

Organised by the Da Nang Social Work Team, the store provided poor people in the district with food and essentials free of charge, including instant noodles, milk, rice, eggs, face masks and alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

The Da Nang Social Work Team gave coupons to 200 poor families across the district to allow them to do their shopping at the store.

Each person was allowed to choose and buy favourite products totalling a maximum of 350,000VND on display on shelves at the fair for zero dong.

Since 25 July, the Da Nang Social Work Team has raised around one billion VND from generous donors nationwide to organise 5 such fairs in the districts of Thanh Khe, Hai Chau, Lien Chieu, Cam Le and Hoa Vang.

Similar events will take place in Ngu Hanh Son and Son Tra districts in the coming time.
