In addition, storm Linfa which made landfall on 11 October in central coastal areas from Quang Nam to Quang, brought more heavy downpours to Da Nang, including flooded communes.

As a result, suburban Hoa Vang District has appeared the worst hit, with 10 of the total 11 communes being badly flooded.

The communes of Hoa Nhon, Hoa Phong, Hoa Khuong and Hoa Tien have stood out as the worst-hit areas in Hoa Vang District.

In all, over 2,567 people living in the worst-hit areas across Da Nang have been evacuated.

One person hailing from Hoa Khuong Commune and another one from Lien Chieu District’s Hoa Khanh Bac Ward have gone missing in floods, whilst 2 others onboard DNa 90988 have mysteriously disappeared at sea.

11 schools in Hoa Vang District have been flooded. 80 ha of vegetables and flowers have been waterlogged, 24.73 ha of aquaculture ponds badly damaged, and hundreds of ha of other agricultural land flooded.

Many streets in Da Nang were submerged under water whilst a large number of trees were uprooted on 11 October after storm Linfa, which weaken into a tropical depression yesterday, brought torrential downpours, accompanied by strong winds to the city.

All school pupils and university and college students across Da Nang have been allowed to be off school until further notice from 12 October following the fresh approval of the Da Nang Department of Education and Training.

Shocking images show the scale of the devastation in the worst-hit district in Da Nang caused by a week of heavy downpours.
