Viet Nam's National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (NCHMF) has issued warning about “severe cold weather conditions" as an intense cold snap will sweep across the north and mid-central Viet Nam, including Da Nang, making an end to a streak of a few consecutive sunny days.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, 29 December, will continue to see much-hailed sunlight, marking the last sunny day of this natural disasters-slashed year in Central Viet Nam.

From Wednesday, 30 December into this weekend, Da Nang is predicted to see the mercury sharply go down to hover at from 18 - 22 degrees Celsius in many of its parts.

Besides, Da Nang is also highly likely to brace for unpleased wet weather with some scattered showers and wind levels 2-3.

Da Nang meteorologists also gave a warning on the upcoming sold spell whose intensity is forecast to be either equal or stronger than the latest one raging the city last week.

Meanwhile, a vast stretch from Quang Binh to Thua Thien-Hue provinces is predicted to suffer chiller weather with the mercury plummeting considerably.

Worse still, Northern Viet Nam, especially the provinces of Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Lang Son, Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang and Lao Cai, will be the hardest hit. The average lows are projected to fall to only 8 - 11 degrees Celsius in many parts of these northen localities, even below zero degrees Celsius in some high mountain areas, leading to a high possibility of frost.

This unpleasant chilly weather pattern is anticipated to last for many days.

This type of weather is not abnormal as the region enters the winter season. It is recommended that the public across Da Nang dress appropriately during the day and night as the range of temperatures can be significant.

Meanwhile, farmers in mountainous areas usually apply measures to keep their cattle and poultry warm, especially during the evening.
