In November, the C Hospital conducted two charity trips to Tra Giac Commune and Phuoc Kim Commune, both in Quang Nam Province, in order to help those in need.

During their trip to Tra Giac Commune, staff members of the C Hospital donated 300 gifts, valued at over 500,000 VND each, to local poor people. Each gift consisted of food, warm clothes, learning tools and other necessities.

Nguyen Thi Phuong, 33, a resident of Tra Giac Commune, said that she was very happy at receiving in-kind support from the hospital staff which would help her family overcome current difficulties as consequences of recent storms and floods to stabilise their lives.

Chairman of the Tra Giac Commune People’s Committee Ho Ngoc An said over 95% of the commune’s population are Ca Dong ethnic people, and they depend directly on agriculture and afforestation activities for their livelihood.

Storm Molave which made landfall in Quang Nam-Quang Ngai provinces in late October left dozens of houses in Tra Giac Commune damaged. Also, thousands of ha of forests and other crops were totally destroyed. Fortunately, no human casualties were reported in the locality. However, the commune was isolated for a long time, so the lives of local people became more difficult.

In an effort to share difficulties with Tra Giac Commune residents, the Da Nang visitors presented 1,000 notebooks, 300 sets of learning tools, and 200 warm clothes for local school pupils affected by recent natural disasters.

Besides, milk boxes, surgical face masks and hand sanitiser bottles were given to medical centres in Bac Tra My and Nam Tra My districts, and Tra Giac Commune.

Also last month, a group of volunteer doctors and nurses from the C Hospital provided free medical checkups and treatment for hundreds of people in Phuoc Kim Commune, Phuoc Son District, Quang Nam Province.

In addition, they delivered 100 gifts of books, notebooks and learning tools to local poor school pupils. The total costs for this charity trip to Phuoc Kim Commune were estimated to be around 100 million VND.
