According to Dr. Nguyen Dinh Huan, Head of the Environment Faculty of the Da Nang University of Science and Technology, Da Nang should mobilise more financial resources to build more solid waste treatment plants in the city, as well as apply composting methods which can help reduce or prevent the release of methane during organic matter breakdown, thereby providing a series of economic and environmental co-benefits.
Dr Huan also emphasised that manufacturing establishments and businesses operating which cause environmental pollution should be moved out of the city heart.
“Another focus should be on upgrading wastewater treatment plants which have yet to meet all national wastewater effluent regulations, and tackling the environmental pollution at lakes and canals citywide” he added.
Over the past decade, a sum of approximately 14 trillion VND has been poured into the construction of urban technical infrastructure in tandem with ensuring the environment protection in Da Nang.
In detail, around 12 trillion VND (511.4 million USD) has been disbursed from ODA capital, whilst over 1,300 billion VND from the city budget, 131 billion VND from private businesses, and the remainder from other sources.
