Since the start of the year, over 260 residents and visitors have called the team’s hotline on 0919247009 to ask for information relating to the Covid-19 pandemic and Da Nang’s support policies for stranded tourists, as well as ask for help to deal with their tourism-related problems. This figure shows a four-fold rise compared with the same period last year.

Mr Nguyen Xuan Binh, Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Tourism cum Head of the Tourism Rapid Response Team, said, in light of coronavirus crisis, his agency has partnered with Da Nang Department of Health to offer tourists Covid-19 updates, and give them timely assistance when detecting any foreigners showing such Covid-19 symptoms as fever, cough and shortness of breath.

Also, Da Nang Department of Tourism has closely worked with governments of Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City to arrange special flights to bring stranded travellers home from Da Nang.

Of special note, the Tourism Rapid Response Team has coordinated with Da Nang police to impose strict punishments on anyone who violates the city’s tourism regulations, and to take more effective measures in order to ensure the security of tourism activities across the city.

In particular, after receiving reports from local residents about Chinese illegal immigrants in Da Nang’s Son Tra District, the team has partnered with local police officers to check and find 12 Chinese nationals to have illegally stayed in Da Nang. Then, these Chinese people were put into quarantine in the district-based Medical Centre following the Vietnamese national government's regulations.

Mr Binh added that, in the time to come, the team will continue to coordinate with relevant agencies to provide useful information relating to Da Nang’s tourism activities, as well as receive and deal with tourists' complaints. The focus will be on taking more effective measures to ensure the ultimate safety of tourists when coming to Da Nang in the context of coronavirus.
