In response to the ‘Lunar New Year (Tet Festival) for the Poor and Victim of Agent Orange’ campaign launched by the Viet Nam Red Cross Society, a charity market opened at the headquarters of the Da Nang Red Cross Society last weekend.

Hosted by the Da Nang Red Cross Society, the event aimed to help underprivileged people across Da Nang to celebrate a warm and happy Tet.

Chairwoman of the Da Nang Red Cross Society Le Thi Nhu Hong remarked each person, who visited the market, was allowed to choose and buy some products totalling a maximum of 300,000VND on market shelves for zero dong.

Deputy Director of the Co-op Mart Danang Le Quang Thanh said this is the second time this year the Co-op Mart Danang has partnered with the Da Nang Red Cross Society to organise such event to provide practical support for the needy in the city.

“Apart from providing free products for the poor, Co-op Mart Danang also offered up to 50% discount on hundreds of essential items on sale at the charity market” Mr Thanh revealed.

As of 29 January, Da Nang Red Cross Society and its chapters across the city have together donated 7,114 Tet gifts totalling more than 3.3 billion VND, to the poor, people affected by Covid-19 and victims of Agent Orange across Da Nang.

In an effort to ensure safety of visitors to the ‘humanitarian market’ amid Covid-19 fears, shoppers had their body temperature taken and they were asked to clean their hands with alcohol-based hand sanitizer gel before doing shopping there.
