Da Nang enjoy a safe and joyful Tet break amid coronavirus threat
In light of some Vietnamese localities drastically combating the COVID-19 resurgence, Da Nang people and tourists celebrated the Tet Festival, which ran from 10 to 16 February in a warm, joyful atmosphere, and especially, consciously complied with the national and municipal governments-adopted measures against the deadly virus.

Bustling spring travel
On Lunar New Year’s Day, a lot of Da Nang residents and tourists embarked upon their much-awaited spring travel, visited pagodas to pray for peace, happiness and prosperity through the Year of Buffalo, and explore the beauty of flower streets in very favourable weather conditions.
Highly inviting spring flower streets, namely Bach Dang and Tran Hung Dao, from the early morning, saw many local residents and tourists gather to take photos to save the most beautiful moments on New Year's Day.
On this occasion, a delegation of 42 visitors who are staffers from the Kingmaker III Company in the Quang Ngai-based Viet Nam - Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) also visited the Cham Museum of Sculpture.
All visitors to such popular attractions such as the Marble Mountains Tourist Area and the Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture are required to wear face masks and wash their hands with sanitizer gel, along with undergo compulsory body temperature measurements at the entrance gates, in line with the coronavirus prevention guidance.
According to representatives of some travel agencies, when the coronavirus started raging in some Vietnamese localities, most visitors from the provinces and cities from the Northern and Southern Viet Nam wither postponed or cancel their planned tours during the Tet break.
Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Tourism Tan Van Vuong said, due to the complicated pandemic in some Vietnamese localities, like other parts of the country, Da Nang saw a decline in tourist arrival numbers as compared to the previous years.
In detail, during the Tet break, the Marble Mountain Tourist Area welcomed more than 5,100 visitors, the Sun World Ba Na Hills tourist area with more than 6,500 visitors, the Sun World Da Nang Wonders (Asia Park) with more than 30,000 visitors, the Son Tra Peninsula with over 8,000 visitors, and the Mikazuki Water Park 365 with over 1,100 visitors.
Simply put, from 10 to 16 February, visitor numbers in Da Nang reached 30,800, the majority of whom were domestic travellers. These travelled individually, in family groups, and book services by themselves.

Strict practice of COVID-19 prevention measures during Tet break
According to a report made by the Da Nang Department of Health, COVID-19 prevention measures during Tet break were still carried out in accordance with the city authorities’ instructions.
Temporarily putting aside the joy of celebrating Tet with their family and friends, functional forces, namely medical workers, the police, the army and the militia, plus hundreds of Youth Union members and youths across Da Nang, over recent days, have actively been duty around the clock at COVID-19 prevention checkpoints set up the city’s entrances.
2,170 out of the Da Nang General Hospital staffer celebrated Tet Festival away from home to be on duty here, Doctor Le Duc Nhan, Director of the hospital said.
Meanwhile, since the second wave of the coronavirus hit the city last year, the Da Nang Lung Hospital has still been designated to provide care and treatment for arrivals from overseas who catch the SARS-CoV-2.Till date, the hospital has treated 31 SARS-CoV-2 patients, of whom 20 were discharged from hospital.
Currently, only 11 patients who returned from the US are still receiving treatment at the hospital.
There are 20 doctors and medical workers getting involved in treating severely ill patients stricken by the coronavirus at this medical facility. They pledged to promote their important roles and responsibilities in treating COVID-19 patients, amid the pandemic has still been complicated in some Vietnamese localities.
Many people, mainly immigrant workers, rushed back to the central metropolis for works on Tuesday as the seven-day Tet holiday concluded. To avoid traffic jams, some others had already made their way back to Da Nang a day earlier.
